Valens 

Flavius Valens, 364 - 378

The younger brother of Valentinian I , Valens was made co-emperor to govern the eastern empire by his brother in 364. Valens spent most of his fourteen year reign fighting the Goths at the Danube frontier and the Persians to the east. He was killed at the battle of Hadrianopolis on 9th August, 378.
