Procopius, Augustus 365 - 366 |

Procopius was a relative of Julian II, and was with the emperor when he was killed in battle. It was Procopius who led the funeral party with Julian 's body back to Tarsus. Once he had returned to Constantinople, Procopius rebelled against Valens, and was proclaimed emperor. He had some successes to start with but was defeated and captured by the forces of Valens, and executed in May, 366. |
