Florianus

Marcus Annius Florianus, 276

The brother of the emperor Tacitus, Florianus assumed the throne on the death of his brother, and was recognized by the senate in Rome and by the Western provinces. The army in the East, however, had other ideas, and proclaimed their legate, Probus , emperor. Florianus marched against Probus , but before any major engagements, Florianus' army, loyal as ever, murdered their emperor and declared for Probus . Florianus reigned for just two months.
