Constantine II

Flavius Claudius Constantinus, Caesar 317 - 337, Augustus 337 - 340

Born in 314, Constantine II was the eldest son of Constantine I and his second wife, Fausta. Made Caesar at the tender age of three, by his late teens he had become an able soldier. His father died in 337, and in the division of the empire that ensued, Constantine received Britain, Gaul and Spain, along with the title of Augustus. During an invasion of Italy, ruled by his brother Constans, he was killed in an ambush near Aquileia.
