|||
Prefect of the Praetorian Guard under Probus , Carus was hailed emperor on the murder of the latter. He appointed his two sons, Carinus and Numerian, as Caesars and headed off to meet the Persians in battle. After a brief but successful campaign, he was killed by a lightning bolt whilst in the army camp at Ctesiphon. Apparently. |
