A Budget Collection

An ever-growing budget collection of Roman and Byzantine coins. Roman coins (at least until the fourth century) portray an accurate likeness of the emperor. Looking at these coins, you are coming as close as is possible to being face to face with some of the most powerful men the world has ever known. Like very many collectors of Roman coins, my aim is to collect as many portraits of the emperors as possible. There were 147 emperors (including one "Rex", or king) listed below. I currently have coins portraying 77 of them. When looking at the images of the coins, please be aware that this is a budget collection. The most expensive coin in these pages cost just £30.

Please note than none of the coins featured here is for sale.

Please feel free to contact me here.

Coins were also issued in the names of wives, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and even friends of the emperors. None of these are included here unless the person actually held the title of "Caesar" or "Augustus". When my budget expands, so will my collection to include these friends and family.

The coins are sorted by issuing emperor. Click on "Emperors" to proceed.
